It’s been a while since I’ve played a gig.  Technically I took a year off last year, though I still played four. But this year I’m back… soon!

Having some minor issues with the booking of what will be the debut gig of Transit of Venus.  Someone who’s band is not in the line-up is proceeding to have a bit of a whinge all over the internet about not being included.  *sigh*  It gets to me a bit.  I’m trying not to have a whinge all over the internet about the fact that they had a whinge all over the internet but I’m probably failing heh heh.

On a positive note there are a lot of bands and industry people in New Zealand that are such a pleasure to work and play with so I want to emphasize the positive by giving these people a shout out and lotsa love.

Thanks for everything…

You guys rock, and I know there’s heaps more out there that I’ve missed because it’s late and I’m tired.  I wanted to write a list of awesome bands that I love to play with but that list would be so long it would take me till 4am at least!  The good guys far outweigh the bad guys.  Not that the bad guys are even bad, just people who forget about the big picture.  It’s not all about musical politics, it’s all about enjoying the music!

Well, I’m off to play some piano.  Band practice tomorrow at 10am, I’m amped about it! :-)

The thing that is getting me most excited about today, is the fact that Lost is on tonight!  I know, I’m a sad pathetic excuse for a human being, you’re all sick of Lost etc.  But I don’t care, I’m still excited and I’m damn well gonna watch it and enjoy it!

Second exciting thing (and I’m a horrible person for putting this second, but it’s just that it’s still a few days away…), my friend Michelle is getting married on the weekend!  I get to be a bridesmaid, we’re gonna have a jam at the reception, there will be cake and rockin good times.

I’ve written a couple of new song’s since I got back.  One is very silly and I managed to rhyme ‘send it to me’ with ‘lost property’.  It probably won’t see the light of day but will provide me with quiet entertainment when I’m playing guitar by myself at home.

Drinking song lyics… someone asked me the other day what all the drinks were in that song.  Don’t really play that song anymore but here are all the drinks from it…

I’m also also very excited about playing some live gigs in the hopefully not too distant future.  Have managed to squeeze in one practice with most of a band, probably need another couple of run throughs with a drummer in attendance.

Here I go pressing “Publish” without so much as a spellcheck…

I am well and truly back in work mode after a fantastic and long overdue holiday in Dubai. I arrived home a couple of weeks ago and cleared (but not necessarily filed) a huge backlog of paperwork. Then got to work on various more serious things for a while. Not until the last couple of days have I managed to turn much attention to Transit of Venus. Spent today mixing with Dave from Miscreant Recordings. Turns out I’d made some rather irritating mistakes in the exporting of my audio. It’s a long and boring story, but the short of it is the mixing of this album may be a fair bit more time and effort than originally suspected. However the good news is that there are a couple of songs that are very close to finished. And the other good news is that I’m going to play some gigs with the new material soon.

It’s almost 2am and I’m worried that this post is not going to make great grammatical sense so I think I’ll call it a night and write something a little more substantial tomorrow.
