The EP is mixed and mastered, it is going to be named Bittersweet Love after one of the tracks on it.  There are five tracks – Bittersweet Love  Meatmarket, Ragdoll, Secret, and Second Best.  Cover art is being put together over the weekend, I’ve almost done writing out the credits.  Don’t be surprised if this website gets an overhaul sometime in the near future.  Tory is organizing an EP release gig for late April or May.

It’s all go!

Don’t forget, April 11th @ The Dogs Bollix is Transit of Venuses first live show.  Playing with a wicked line up, this is gonna be an awesome gig so if you’re in or around Auckland don’t miss it!

I think it’s safe to say I have a confirmed band for live gigs with Transit of Venus.  Tory Staples on drums, Harry Champion on bass, Mike Johns on guitar, Ralph Engle on Keys.  Also hoping to get everyone who played on the EP to come play as guest spots at the gig on the eleventh of April.

Had a band photoshoot on Friday.  It was highly entertaining and of course the unedited silly ones have made it to facebook.  Should have some proper looking promo photos soon though.  Fingers crossed that there might be one out of the 839 shots where I don’t look like a total dork!

I have what might just be the final mix for the EP.  Listening to it a bit, trying to decide… Is it finished?  I’m gonna make a decision by the end of the week.  Then I’ll just need to sort out artwork and all that and it’s done. I am loathe to set a release date since I have had such a bad run with the deadline on this already.  So lets just say, it’ll be out when it’s out.  :-)

I’m sitting in my shorts and sneakers writing this, just waiting for the motivation to get me out that door into the exciting autumn wind to go for an ear chilling run.

While I wait for motivation I’m sipping a hot coffee and telling you about my week.

Last week I put up two songs off the upcoming EP and I’m quite pleased by how many play’s they’ve had already!  I didn’t think I had that many readers, but maybe the spam-bots like to have a good listen too ;)

First Transit of Venus gig is on April the 11th @ The Dogs Bollix on Newton Rd Auckland.  Playing with The Mystersons, a band who formed the year I was born and have had even more reunion gigs than Amperzahn!  The Rickshaws – a super cute pop-rock band, Kairos – interesting instrumetal band, and The Random Samicks who have formed especially for the gig and will no doubt be very surprising one way or another.

Supposedly had a band practice yesterday, but the super hard to pin down rhythm section couldn’t make it so ended up having a free form jam session.  Played bass for a while, then jumped on the drums later.  My arms and shoulders are killing me today, I have a new found respect for drummers, it’s hard work!  Especially for Tory who plays such things that I just can’t seem to figure out how he does it.  Insanely good drummer that boy.

Found out yesterday that Amanda Palmer is playing the same night as Mickey Avalon in Auckland :(   What are the chances?  Already have tickets to Amanda so guess that’s the one I’ll go to, but kind of annoyed at the universe for that one haha

Lost was good last night.  I am so into that show.

Coffee is gone, motivation has arrived, I’m off for a run!
