Transit of Venus

I have been trying to remember to blog once a week, though I’m completely in the dark as to whether or not I’m keeping up. I could check, but I’d rather not know if I’m failing miserably at something as trivial as remembering to write a few words now and again.

So, latest news. This week and last week has seen a bit of work on the artwork for the EP cover. The concept is a picture of a mouth biting into a strawberry and all this icky bitterness kinda spilling down the chin. In some vaguely obvious way it’s symbolizing Bittersweet Love which is going to be the name of the EP. If you’re a twitter follower you might have seen a couple of pictures of ideas already. Anyway, last Friday got together with my number 1 photographer Anthony Corban, and gorgeous model Kristina Koveshnikova, and took some shots.

Previous concept shots had been done with chocolate sauce which just didn’t quite look right, so tried to think of an alternative. Ended up coming up with a great idea, dying honey black with food dye. As you can probably imagine it was a rather messy photoshoot, but it was a lot of fun and there were plenty of yummy strawberries left over to snack on afterwards.

A date has been set for the EP release party, but more on that later.  The big news is that this coming Saturday is out FIRST EVER GIG!  When I first started Transit of Venus Project I didn’t really think of it as any more than a recording project, but now with the live band and everything it seems so much more exciting.  If you dont’ already know, it’s at The Dogs Bollix in Auckland.  Thats the green sorta Irish Pub style place on Newton Rd.  First band is on at seven.  With the easter licensing laws we have to finish at midnight so we’re starting quite early.  Don’t be late and miss us!  Yes, I’m talking to you Josh
